Newly Renovated Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room
No matter when you visit Niagara Falls the view is always changing, however this year the inside view in the Skylon Revolving dining room has also changed.
The Skylon Tower Revolving Dining Room has been completely renovated for 2018. From top to bottom no surface remains untouched. For three weeks the Revolving Restaurant has been closed to the public, allowing tradesmen to work on the transformation. Design Nine Architects from Fonthill were commissioned to pull together the new look that would provide a complementary backdrop to the most famous view in Canada, Niagara Falls.
The architects had this to say about the design inspiration, “Tasked with a mandate to refresh the revolving restaurant at the Skylon Tower, we took the approach of creating a new cohesive environment by introducing an updated palette of interior finishes.
From the floor to the ceiling, the space was stripped back to allow for the introduction of a new unifying colour scheme. Ceilings and floors received new neutral finishes, and modern tile-work with eco-friendly leather detailing line the core walls helping to reinforce its new modern aesthetic. The banquette seating that circled the space was wrapped with new updated fabrics. Millwork stations were rebuilt and clad in a new traffic-friendly solid surface.
Replacing years of design that no longer spoke to the terrific views of the falls beyond, the space with its new neutral backdrop now elevates the dining experience with its luxurious materials and new millwork pieces providing a classic, timeless modern look.
Two weeks later and the finishing touches are being installed and tweaked for the re-opening on Saturday January 27th. Earthy tones pop along-side creamy white wall tiles and rich brown woods. It’s the perfect backdrop to the most extraordinary view in Niagara Falls.
The Skylon Tower re-opened on Saturday January 27th, newly renovated and ready for the New Year, visitors enjoyed the dining experience inside and out.
