History of Skylon Tower

The Skylon Tower is an observation tower, eatery, tourist attraction and an iconic landmark on the Niagara Falls skyline. Rising 775 feet from the base of Niagara Falls, the Skylon Tower offers stunning views of both the American and Horseshoe falls, as well as the rest of Niagara Falls. On a clear day visitors can see both the Toronto and Buffalo skylines as well.

Construction begun in May of 1964 and the Tower was officially opened on October 6th 1965 by New York governor Nelson Rockefeller and Ontario Premier John Robarts. At the time of opening, the construction cost of the tower was $7 million dollars. The Skylon Tower has played host to celebrities, heads of state and even royalty.

In addition to offering a stunning view of Niagara Falls from the observation deck, the Skylon tower also has two great restaurants: The Summit Suite Buffet, which is a family friendly buffet and the World famous 360 degree Revolving Dining room which offers guests fine dining options.

The base of the Skylon Tower also has an amazing shopping center, family fun arcade and a 3d movie theater. No matter what your looking for, the Skylon Tower has something for every member of the family.
