Ready to get started? Here are five essential things that you need to bring along for a successful weekend away with your family:
Remember to bring layers of extra clothing.
You never know what Mother Nature can throw your way – especially here in Canada. Not to mention, if you stand near the falls, you will likely feel a mist or cold spray in the air (your clothes may become damp just from standing near the water). So a waterproof jacket is always a good idea.
And if you happen to be visiting in the next month or so, our Niagara weather can be a little unpredictable bring extra clothing to be prepared for anything, rain is often in the forecast and snow is not unheard of in early April.
Waterproof or disposable camera
There are endless amount of photo opportunities when you visit The Skylon Tower’s Observation Deck. In only 52 seconds, you and your loved ones can ride to the top of the tower and stand 775 feet above the mighty Falls. You’ll be able to see 8,000 square miles of Canada and the U.S. including the Great Gorge, the Niagara wine district, and the Toronto and Buffalo skylines.
A camera is a necessity during a weekend away with your family. If you decide to participate in the Hornblower Niagara Cruises or the Journey Behind the Falls, a disposable or waterproof camera would be ideal. Another option is a waterproof case for your cell phone.
Don’t forget to bring money for souvenirs and postcards.
Niagara Falls is a popular tourist attraction – and for good reason. As a result, the city is full of quirky, one-of-a-kind and unique souvenirs for you and your family. Spare change might also come in handy during your time at the Skylon Tower’s Family Fun Centre. Here you will find a quick-service food court and plenty of high-tech interactive games and rides for the entire family.
Comfortable walking shoes are a necessity.
There is an endless amount of ground to cover in Niagara Falls. In saying this, make sure everyone has a pair of walking shoes with good arch support. The last thing you want are painful blisters, which will likely put a damper on your entire weekend away.
