History of Skylon Tower

When it comes to fun things to do in Niagara Falls Canada, the Skylon Tower has it all. The Skylon Tower is a observation tower, eatery, tourist attraction and a famous landmark on the Niagara Falls skyline. Rising 775 feet from the base of Niagara Falls, the Skylon Tower offers stunning views of both the American and Horseshoe Falls, as well as the rest of Niagara Falls. On a clear day, visitors can see both the Toronto and Buffalo skylines as well. Skylon Tower without a doubt is one of the most iconic Niagara Falls attractions in the Niagara Falls area today.

Construction began in May of 1964 in Niagara Falls Canada and the Tower was officially opened on October 6th 1965 by New York governor Nelson Rockefeller and Ontario Premier John Robarts. At the time of opening, the construction cost of the tower was $7 million dollars. The Skylon Tower has played host to celebrities, heads of state and even royalty.

In addition to offering a stunning view of Niagara Falls from the observation deck, the Skylon Tower also has two great restaurants for an amazing Niagara Falls dining experience: The Summit Suite Buffet, which is a family friendly buffet and the World Famous 360 degree Revolving Dining room which offers guests fine dining options.

The base of the Skylon Tower also has an amazing shopping centre, family fun arcade and a 3D/4D movie theatre. No matter what you’re looking for, the Skylon Tower has something for every member of the family.
