Pieces of Canada

To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday, Niagara Falls Museums reached out with the question, “What do you have that means Canada to you?” The community wholeheartedly answered with 140 artefacts on loan to the Museums for this exhibition.

Visitors will explore the objects that the people of Niagara feel tell a story about the country they live in. These are personal stories that collectively tell us something about our nation. There is a wide variety of descriptions of transportation, immigration, sports, the military, and much more. Donors, too, are as diverse as their artefacts, from as young as ten years to as accomplished as the wizened world traveller.

It has often been said that the most important thing about an artefact is not its monetary value, its age, or how beautiful it is. The most important thing about an artefact is the story it has to tell. Pieces of Canada tells 150 important stories about our community, our country, and ourselves.

Come experience Pieces of Canada: 150 Objects – 150 Stories at the Niagara Falls History Museum, 5810 Ferry Street, Niagara Falls, Ontario, from May 20 through December 31, 2017
