Niagara Falls Restaurants | Skylon’s 360 Degrees of Awesome
Have you ever dined at the Skylon Tower’s Revolving Dining Room? If you have, you know how magical it can be. If you have yet to, it’s time to go the distance …
Niagara Falls, which includes the American, Bridal Veil, and Horseshoe Falls, is one of the most breathtaking natural attractions anywhere in the world. More than six million cubic feet of water tumble over the crest line every minute, demonstrating the raw power of North America’s biggest waterfall.
There are countless vantage points to observe this wondrous natural wonder, but few are as complete and spectacular as the view from the 360 degree Revolving Dining Room, located 775 feet above the Falls, at the top of the Skylon Tower, one of the original Niagara Falls attractions, and among the most iconic ever built.
The world famous Revolving Dining Room silently rotates 360 degrees every hour, giving diners a constantly changing view. It is estimated that more than 8,000 square kilometres can be seen from the dining room, including the skylines of both Toronto, Ontario and Buffalo, New York on a clear day. It’s something you have to see for yourself. There really is no other view like it in all of Niagara Falls.
The Revolving Dining Room seats 276 people and makes a complete revolution once every hour. It rests on a circular rail that is propelled by a three-horsepower (2.2 kW) motor, which is powered by the Niagara Falls itself!
In addition to this priceless view, one can also expect mouthwatering cuisine from this world-famous fine dining restaurant. It has served celebrities, heads of state, and even royalty since it opened in 1965.
The menu offers favourites like fresh seafood and slow-roasted prime rib, and all sorts of other sinfully delicious cuisine. Have the best of both land and sea with our delectable surf and turf: enjoy a filet and lobster tail, both grilled to perfection, served with fresh veggies and a double baked potato. Did you just drool too?
Aside from the incredible food and breathtaking view, you will take home a memory to last a life time–or at least until your next visit! Just ask any of the Revolving Dining Room staff. They all have incredible stories, like this one from a long-standing employee:
Every evening, except Sundays, a piano player comes to serenade the dining room with background music. After chatting with him, we found out that he had been playing at the Skylon for more than 30 years and had once shared the piano bench with the one and only Jerry Lee Lewis! And that’s how you turn a great evening of Niagara Falls dining into a truly memorable experience. I wonder who will show up tonight …
